The two species of possum found in Sydney are the Ringtailed and the Brushtailed possum. Both of these creatures have excellent night vision, poor day vision and long sharp teeth. Possums will enter into the gaps in a roof if no suitable tree is available for nesting. Possums sleep in their tree or roof during the day and emerge at night to search for food (usually fruit) and water.
If you find a possum inside or around your home, please do not touch it. While they may appear to be cute, possums are wild animals and may attack if they are afraid or feel threatened. Trust a trained professional to help take care of the animal safely.
